Movement Motivation from Teachers Like You

Before we get started, a quick moment to let you know that “Let’s Get Movin’”, our FREE 5-day movement challenge, starts on April 1st! Join here for daily movement motivation.

Now, let’s be real: Pretty much everyone’s routine has been turned inside out, flipped upside down, and thrown into a shredder. The new coronavirus policies have put so many teachers through the wringer.

And when your routine changes, the healthy habits you’ve built into your old routine are going to be challenged. You may have noticed recently that it’s a little bit harder to motivate yourself to move.

That’s why now is an especially important time to cling to “WHY” you want to stay active.

To help get you brainstorming, I want to share some Movement Motivators from teachers like you!

I reached out to our community in our Beat Burnout Facebook group to ask, “What is your number one motivator for incorporating movement into your day?” Below you’ll find some of their responses!

While reading, I challenge you to take a moment to brainstorm your own response. Once you’ve got it, make sure to write it down to reference often.

  • “I just feel accomplished afterwards. Also, I enjoy hiking or jogging outdoors so I get to experience nature.” -Rachel O.

  • “It's a confidence booster.” -C’eleste A.

  • “[It] relieves stress.” -Amanda H.

  • “Weightlifting has been a huge game changer for me. Love the confidence and strength it has helped me build.” -VA D.

  • “Yoga, for the mental cleanse as well as the work on my body.” -Amy L.

  • “Makes my day feel smoother no matter what may come because I get in the right head space with moving first thing in the AM!” - Emily D.

  • “I feel so much better after working out and it is a great stress reliever.” -Sheryl P.

  • “Trying to get [my cholesterol] back under control before my next check-up in September.”" -Gina C.

  • “[It’s] time unplugged.” -Nikki W.

  • “Honestly, just getting outside and allowing my daughter to walk or ride her bike. It helps us both!” -Diana N.

And, in case you’re curious, my top reason to incorporate movement is that it helps me keep a calm mind and positive mood.

Now it’s your turn! And if you feel comfortable, share your response with us on this post in our Beat Burnout Facebook group :)

If you liked this post, please share with another teacher who may benefit!
