Why the Summer is KEY for Teacher Wellbeing
Summer lovin’, had me a blast; Summer lovin’, happened so fast… (Name that musical!)
At The Teacher Wellness Center, your mental and physical health is a priority at all times of the school year, BUT when the year gets busy or stressful, I get that it can be challenging to focus on healthy habits, too.
Solution: Strategically use the summer to solidify the healthy habits you want to continue next school year.
Below, find 3 wellness ideas, 2 quotes, and 1 question to explain why the summer is one of THE best times for teachers to focus on their health and wellbeing.
3 Reasons Why the Summer is Essential for Teacher Wellness Goals
I.
You may have fewer distractions and better focus. To successfully build a healthy habit, you have to be able to focus on it. Then, once the habit is set, we don’t need as much mental energy to keep it going. With fewer obligations, use the summer to hone in and focus on the new habits you would like to master.
II.
You may have lower stress. Stress can tucker you out and suck the motivation right out of you - am I right or am I right? When you first start a new habit, you need some motivation to get things rolling before the habit becomes more routine. Summer is great because stress tends to be lower, meaning you have more energy and motivation to put towards your wellness goals.
III.
You may have more time. If there’s no time in your day, a new habit can’t be formed. Enjoy the extra time during the summer to devote to establishing a wellness routine that has you feeling good. But also, keep in mind how your summer wellness plan can transition into next school year.
2 Quotes from Others

II.
“You are what you repeatedly do. Excellence is not an event, it is a habit.” - Aristotle
