Teacher 3-2-1: Relieve Mental Stress

Watch above of read below (or a little of both)!

3 Wellness Ideas From Me

I.

Mental stress is often caused by painful beliefs we tell ourselves over and over again. These limiting beliefs might sound like “I’m not ______ enough”, “They must think ____ about me”, “Things will never get better”, “I always mess up”, “My presentation will not go well” etc. According to thought leader, Byron Katie, our thoughts are stories we tell ourselves, not reality. And lucky for us, we have the power to change the story we tell.

II.

This school week, notice the thoughts that stress you out. Are there any common themes among your stressful thoughts?

III.

Once you have noticed a specific thought that stresses you, ask yourself “Is that thought true?” and “Can I absolutely know that it’s true?”. What effect does believing that thought have on your life? Finally, imagine how your life might be different if you never thought that stressful thought.

2 Quotes from Others

I.

“It’s not the problem that causes our suffering; it’s our thinking about the problem.” - Byron Katie

II.

“Your beliefs become your thoughts,

Your thoughts become your words,

Your words become your actions,

Your actions become your habits,

Your habits become your values,

Your values become your destiny.”

-Gandhi
