Teacher 3-2-1: On teacher guilt + rest
You can watch above or read below! …or do a little bit of both ;)
3 Teacher Wellness Ideas From Me
I.
As a health coach, I have seen firsthand how common “Downtime Guilt” is among teachers (you’re not alone if you’ve ever felt that way!). But it’s also a cultural issue. A recent study shows that 1 in 3 Americans feel guilty when they take time for themselves, even though 67% report wanting more time.
II.
If you’ve ever felt guilty for resting, keep in mind that downtime actually helps boost creativity, focus, and productivity, helping you get your work done more effectively in less time. Downtime can also dramatically improve your mental and physical health and the health of your relationships.
III.
To get the full benefits of rest, make sure your downtime is an actual break for your brain. Avoid scrolling your phone or binge-watching TV, which can offer an influx of new information and shocking news. Naps, exercise, time in nature, reading a calming book, meditating, making art - These are the types of downtime activities that can give your mind the break it craves.
2 Quotes from Others

“There is virtue in work and there is virtue in rest. Use both and overlook neither.” - Alan Cohen
II.
“Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.” - Maya Angelou
1 Question For You
