Don’t make self-care harder than it needs to be! A major way to make self-care easier is to optimize your environment for healthy behaviors. Instead of relying solely on motivation and discipline to change your behavior, you can set up your environment to make your goals really visible and easily accessible. Use the guidelines here, and you may find you unconsciously practice healthier habits just from setting up your environment right!

 
 
 
 
 

Apply Your Learning

  • Set up visual cues around your house for the one habit you want to start. If an old habit is getting in the way of your new habit, think of ways to make the visual cues for that habit less visible.

  • Remove steps and obstacles between you and the self-care habit you want to start so it’s as easy to get started as possible. Add steps or obstacles to make it more difficult to engage in the habits you want to stop.
